Yesterday I decided to do a little benchmarking of the battery I got from Batterygeek. At 3:40 in the afternoon, I plugged in the external battery and removed the native battery for the Q1. At the time, I was using the Q1 to listen to some music in iTunes while I worked. Everything was running great.
At about 5:30, I packed things up to go home by shutting down my X41 , but I just carried my UMPC out the door with the music still playing. When I got home, I muted the Q1, spent some time with my family, and didn’t touch the PC for about 3 hours (when I picked up the Q1 to do some web surfing). A quick check of the battery gauge on the external battery revealed about 80% capacity remaining. I was impressed.
After a bit of surfing, my wife put a movie in the DVD player, so I started some looping video and set my UMPC aside with battery capacity now around 60%. Almost 3 hours later, it was time for bed, but the battery was still going strong. I read ebooks until midnight and was shocked that the battery was still holding out!As I was sitting there wondering how much longer it could possibly go, I noticed the battery indicator on the unit flashing red.
As if to force the battery to sprint to the finish, I restarted the video loop I ran earlier and sat there waiting for the battery to completely drain. Fifteen more minutes and my system went dark after briefly flashing a low power warning. It was 12:15 AM! It had been almost exactly 8 and a half hours of constant use – well more than I thought it would go! And the cool thing was that I still had a fully charged battery that I could have put in for another two and a half hours.
Impressive performance and the only thing I have to add is, “Kudos to you Batterygeek!”
